Why Use Promotional Products?
November 23rd, 2009 by managementskills
As entrepreneurs, we’d all like to see our brand grow to household recognition. Believe it or not, promotional products can really help you achieve this. It’s not enough any longer to rely simply on adveriting. What’s really key is getting your name and brand in front of customers as often as possible.
How to Use Promotional Products.
Promotional products take a variety of different forms. Anything you can imagine can be given away as a promotional product - from golf balls to flasks, calendars and pens… you name it!More importantly, the product has your company’s name written- no, emblazoned-on it. The beauty of this is that each time that product is used, your customer will be subconsciously thinking about your brand.
Most commonly, promotional products are given away on customer visitations.Right along with your business card, you can hand that contact a pen or even a small magnet. If your business works by seeing fewer, higher value customers then you might want to consider producing something that’s personalised for your customer - for example a pen set that has their initials engraved. This should be something that’s useful, and also contains your brand name somewhere.
Another way to send out your promotional product would be to send it with a ‘thank you for your business’ letter.Maybe you could put the customer’s entire sales team in notepads or even binders.Anything that will be used many times over and has your company written all over it.
When should you use promotional products?
Ideally, the first time you meet a cusotmer is the best time to give away a product.Once in the door, you want to put your company name everywhere possible. If you’re visiting a sales team’s office, why not hand them out a business card and a pen when you meet them? Then, when they go to use it - everyone uses pens - they’ll remember your company.
When you have clients or suppliers visiting you, you might also want to hand out promotional gifts. Clients who have good relationships with their suppliers are often much better placed to negotiate discounts.
Why bother?
The benefits are enormous; giving customers your promotional products helps them associate your business with that particular product line. And for suppliers, you’ll find that showing an interest in them will pay off in the form of discounts and rule-bending.
Either way, the benefit is easy to see and the entire idea is centered on advertising, branding and recognition. In essence, the strategy works out as extremely cheap advertising for your company. Using promotional products makes sense ; although you’ll reach fewer people, those who you to speak to are more important as they are already customers or potential customers.
