Are Marketing Directors addressing the challenge of Online Marketing

In the existing economic environment it is widely know that most organizations are being forced to reduce costs in order to stay solvent. One of the first pots of money to be reduced is often the marketing one as the impact of reducing it is less obvious than lots of the others. The consequences are often only seen later in the future and to cash strapped organizations it is frequently the easiest conclusion to make.

Only the most efficient marketing can therefore be undertaken but are marketing professionals aware that the more cost effective method is Online Marketing? As web purchases continue to grow massively in the vast majority of product areas this must without doubt be the best area for most to focus their attention, and any reduced marketing budget on.

However marketing professionals are not likely to be skilled in the new role of search engine optimization, often the most cost effective way to market your products on line. They are more likely to be using expensive and sometimes less than productive “pay per click” services if they have even debated growing customers from their website at all.

One alternative they may consider at this stage is to consult with their web designer, a tactic that may sound, on the face of it, quite wise. However the web designer is as a rule very focused on the technical performance of the website itself and not used to allowing for the needs of a customer and how they may be drawn to the site. Their skills lie in their coding not in client behavior analysis. So other options for the Marketing Professionals are to either buy in the SEO service from one of the Search Engine Optimisation Company providers advertising on the internet of course, or instead bring the skills into the company.

There are some very good search engine optimization courses available now and the company should consider either placing one of it’s current employees through such a course or on the otherhand taking on a new member of staff who has equipped themselves with the skills in optimization via such a course.

Investment in training in this hard climate may not to begin with seem sensible but taking into account the huge benefits that can be achieved by good Search Engine Placement results at relatively low costs it may be that there is soon a big demand for people trained in this new skill. This in turn could open up new career opportunities for many people who would not have considered the internet a suitable venue for their new career.
